On opening The Loom

The loom is an occasion to gather. We have one pot of tea and another of coffee. A plate of cookies and a bowl of mandarins. Our bodies are variously tired or wired, and happy to be together. We have stories to tell, dreams to recall, gossip to share, problems to solve. What shall we make today? The loom is an occasion to put thoughts, feelings, sensations, visions, delusions, hopes, fears, insights, tears and laughter into words that will become something else as they enter the world as objects on an apparatus that weaves a story, a poem, a play, an epistle, a manifesto, a song. Warping and wefting, we build. We leave a thread loose, to remind others we have been here. Join us.
